SUMMARY:

Our Client, an internationally recognized manufacturer of machines and machine solution technologies has asked Hallmark to help them find a Senior Field Service Engineer to work with VIP customers. This company has an excellent initial training program, which takes 6 – 12 months. This training will prepare Field Service staff to perform installations, troubleshooting, and hands-on repairs on CNC machines, as well as handle technical phone support and remote tele-diagnostics, via computer connection. This is a staff position with an excellent career path, with a company who likes to promote from within.

This is a regional Field Service position covering the Central US, and requires that you live near Chicago IL or Des Moines IA, within an hour of a major airport. This role is 100% travel, flying or driving, depending on client location. The schedule for this job is Monday – Friday, though some weekend work may occasionally be necessary. Overtime is often available, averaging about 10 hours per week.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide exceptional customer service, interacting clearly and professionally
  • Work closely with customers and machines to ensure equipment operates within expected tolerances
  • Pursue machine diagnosis of our internal Product Support Group (PSG) to repair company equipment, and provide them with diagnostic feedback
  • Use visual clues, computer programs, diagnostic tools to further diagnose machine difficulties as needed
  • Use electrical and electronic knowledge to help troubleshoot and solve issues
  • Read and utilize company repair manuals and work orders for assistance with repairs and diagnostics
  • Clean, replace or install parts, to maintain smooth operation of equipment
  • Assemble, install, align equipment as needed
  • Troubleshoot and repair machines as needed
  • Train customers in the use and repair of machines as needed
  • Accurately report technical conditions and information of machines to PSG and management
  • Work with cross functional teams (applications, sales, engineering, production)
  • Provide onsite training to customers for operation and/or repair of machines
  • Assist other Field Service Engineers as needed
  • Receive factory product training and technical service knowledge as needed
  • Submit organized and helpful service reports for each repair mission
  • Help to develop or adjust existing technical documentation
  • Work with minimal supervision in compliance with all safety requirements
  • Travel up to 100%. Travel includes regional and national travel. (Company paid room, rental cars, airfare and meal per diem are provided.)


EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • 2 year technical school diploma or Associate’s degree in an Engineering field, or an equivalent combination of training and additional work experience, is required
  • 4+ years of prior field service experience, working with CNC or other electromechanical equipment, is required
  • Must be polite and professional, with exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills, able to work with all different types of people
  • Excellent mechanical proficiency, skilled with hand tools and precision measurement tools
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills are required
  • Ability to work productively, both independently and in a team environment, with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to lift 70 pounds (to handle a wheeled toolbox as needed)
  • Basic computer skills are required, including use of MS Office
  • Valid, clean US Driver’s License is required
